Illustrations for the CD Asterismyth by composer and pianist Stefanos Kozanis.
Asterismyth is a musical project, arranged as a suite comprising 12 original pieces,
that blend elements from jazz, classical, and traditional Greek music. Each piece is
inspired by Constellations (Asterisms, in Greek) and the mythical figures they
represent.
The cover art features the mythical creature Pegasus. The accompanying booklet
illustrates legendary myths such as Hercules’ battle with the Nemean Lion, Perseus'
slaying of a sea monster, and the union of Leda with Zeus in the guise of a swan.
The illustrations utilize geometric forms, drawing inspiration from ancient Greek art,
particularly from vase paintings and reliefs of temple friezes. The dominant colors are
blue and black, reminiscent of the night sky, along with shades of orange that evoke
the beauty of sunrise and sunset.
